About
The insurance broker we'd want our own families to use
We Are Haven is a new company with an old-fashioned plan: to still be here in twenty years, doing this properly. Honest advice in plain language, and standards that don't move. Here's who built it, who stands behind it, and what we're for.
Founding story
We built We Are Haven for four difficult moments
Insurance almost never comes up when life is calm. Instead, it comes up when:
- you're closing on a house
- an escrow analysis changes what you pay each month
- a renewal lands with a higher price than the last one
- an unexpected non-renewal letter arrives.
Each one is stressful and runs on somebody else's timetable. Almost none of them gives you any warning.
Those are the moments when good advice is worth the most, and they're the moments when people are least able to go looking for it. So mostly they don't. They take whatever is quickest and easiest and get on with their day.

Right place, right time, right people
We Are Haven is built to be ready for those moments. Rather than hoping to catch you at the right time, we're already there when the question comes up.
That's easier said than done. Being there at closing, or in the week an escrow analysis arrives, means being integrated into the mortgage system itself. That takes time, capital, and partners on the inside.
Which is why We Are Haven was formed the way it was. Three firms from inside housing finance backed an experienced operating team to build something the market didn't have.

Who stands behind We Are Haven
What does that mean for you?
For you, it means not having to go looking in the first place. It also means we can take the long view: build carefully, turn down business that isn't right, and stand by your side renewal after renewal.
Our backing is what keeps We Are Haven here for the long term. Your claim is paid by your insurance carrier. Part of our job is helping you pick a carrier that will, and chasing them on your behalf if you ever need to claim.

Our leadership
We Are Haven is led by people who have run insurance businesses on both sides of the Atlantic, and have seen what happens when a company grows faster than its standards.

Brian McDowell
Chief Executive Officer
Brian McDowell brings a rare credential to this venture: he has already built the exact model Haven will scale several times. As CEO & Founder of SimplyIOA and CEO of Hughes Insurance in Northern Ireland, he knows how important it is to build an insurance business that shows up for homeowners when they need it—at the closing table, at renewal, and when something goes wrong. He started Haven because a home is the largest asset most families will ever own and the people who insure it should care about it as much as they do.

Michelle Sipe
Chief Operating Officer
Michelle has spent her career running the operations, strategy, and numbers behind fast-scaling insurance businesses — modernizing how they work while leading with compassion. She joined Brian to establish We Are Haven, building a company where people are proud of what they do and grateful to serve.
Licensed and regulated

We're not an insurance carrier. Policies are underwritten by the carriers we place business with.
